Posted January 13, 200619 yr Hi everybody, I just found this cool website and decided to register. Excuse my spelling, english is my second language. I've got two budgies: female Giny and male George. They fighted a lot when I bought them, but now they're having their first babies. There were six eggs in the box, two babies have already hatched, unfortunately one of them died - I don't really know the reason, but I think it's because George goes to the box sometimes and Giny pushes him out. So they might squash the baby. I hope the rest of them are going to be okay. If anyone can give me some advise I'll be very happy. Or write your experience with breeding budgies. Thanks a lot

January 15, 200619 yr Author Hi zebra! Your budgies are beautiful!! I especially like your male, he's gorgeous! You can have George if you want :hap: - he is very naughty. He is separated from his family, because he was biting his babies. He actually killed the oldest one. I hope they´ll be okay now. He´s just angry and desperatelly trying to get back to them, naughty boy! I was asking for help in forum "budgies behaviour". :sport:

He hasn't done it since and I have no idea what his problem was???
January 16, 200619 yr Bec I didn't have any problems with colony breeding until my Mummybird got killed and 3 babies attacked, 1 died and the other 2 I handreared. By the time you have problems it is tragic and not worth the risk

By the time you have problems it is tragic and not worth the risk Lin, in about 12 years of breeding I've never had a problem and my Mum has had budgies for nearly 40 years and hers have also bred in a colony so I'm going to stick with what works for me I must be extremely lucky, my three laying hens I have had for 7 years and they are fine together and until they prove me otherwise....
January 16, 200619 yr Hiya and welcome to the forum, its so exciting when they lay their first clutch, unfortuantly things do go wrong, and we lose some chicks which is hearbreaking, hopefully now you have seperated the daddy from them they will flourish. GOOD LUCK
