What types of veggies are you feeding them? Adding pellets would be a good idea. Personally, I don't bother with feeding egg food. I don't really see the point of it when they're getting fresh foods, pellets, seeds, and other foods. I wouldn't say it's something they have to have.

But I would add pellets to your budgie's diet as they specifically designed to give him the nutrition he needs. They aren't a complete diet (there is no such thing) but they really do help ease your mind as far as whether or not your bird is eating a healthy diet. Even with a high quality seed mix your budgie is likely to only pick out his favorite seeds and leave the healthy ones behind. Not to mention, very few commercial seed mixes are "healthy" to begin with. In order them to to provide your budgie with any nutrition, they have to be fresh. Try sprouting a handful of the seeds you buy. If they sprout, they're fresh. If not, they're pretty much empty calories.

Sprouts themselves are also good for your budgies but you have to be careful to do it properly. Here is an article about sprouting: http://www.landofvos.com/articles/sprouts.html

well it verys my dad runs a garden *my parents work with people with special needs*so i tend to get louds of stuff they have at least 3 different veggies a day like cucomber broccely salad and also they get plenty of fruits necterines apples bannanas these arent grown in the garden also sprouts and boiled potatto and lots of other stuff

Sounds good. I'd cut down on fruits though, just offer them as treats a few times a week (or less). They're mostly sugar. :)

okay ill get some pellets tomorrow but i dident see any in my pet store so i might have to perswade my dad to drive me to the pet mall tomarrow or as soon as possible!

il cut down on fruits!(Laughing out loud)

:)

smilyl you will have a hard time finding any brand of pellets for sale in a UK pet shop. its best to order online from

or

most pellet brands are 'veterinary recommended' so they sell exclusively through avian veterinary practices and online. you could phone your vet and ask if they get them in, sometimes the vets order them in bulk for their avian patients. :) if not ask your dad to order some online. be warned though, they are not cheap, like seed are.

thanks pixie ill get my pocket money out ive got some saved up or ill look cute then maybe my dad will by it ill also ask the vet :) :ausb: thnks
