Posted January 10, 200619 yr is it true thet budgies could change sex?ive heard that few budgies have changed cere colors like from brown to blue or vica versa and they are at an age where the cere chould be a permanent color.
January 10, 200619 yr Well female budgies have bluish white ceres when they're out of condition so some people could mistake that for changing sex. Males ceres can go brown sometimes to due to medical problems like testicular cancer.
January 10, 200619 yr ALSO, i know this doesnt relate but i have a pair of birds and a nonbreeding cage. Do you think i can put a nesting box at the bottom of the cage.Do you think the female wont mind?

Males ceres can go brown sometimes to due to medical problems like testicular cancer. My thoughts exactly... lots of people say that their budgies change sex but I tend to think along the same lines as Bea.....I met a man who insisted this and after realizing the diet he fed them I told him it may be some sort of nutritional deficiency and that a change in diet was in order, he came back about a month later and his he/she budgie was back to a she with a lovely chocolate brown cere and he couldn't believe it :fear

Do you think i can put a nesting box at the bottom of the cage.Do you think the female wont mind? Until recently i've just used regular cages for breeding. Just make sure the cage is large enough for the family once they arrive.
