January 10, 200619 yr But i'll just add that i have one pair that is extremely loyal to each other and i think i would have a very hard time trying to put them with another mate.
January 10, 200619 yr i've found females like their man, not others, and males will go for anything with wings! atleast in my budgies. Good Ol bo, he's more like a dog doing his thing than a birdy gentleman
January 11, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud)....I also find that females tend to be more loyal to their mates.....the boys however are not so loyal ....again only with my lot! :fear
January 11, 200619 yr :ausb: when I was reading this post I was thinking what you were thinking Caren :grbud:
January 11, 200619 yr In thw wild they will stay together and in the avairy if left together they bond will stay (even if it looks like the males flirt with others) But you can break a bond in budgies by putting the hen alone for about 5 days and then introduce a new male to her. They will start to make a new bond. Int he budges mind the last mate has died.
January 11, 200619 yr Why does that sound so much like every guy I've ever dated? Did we date the same guys?
January 11, 200619 yr :ausb: If they were in the navy about 25 years ago and visiting here, I had a great birthday party with them at a cabaret!!! I am terrified my "breeding without a nest box guys" will not adapt to a new partner as they seem so committed to each other. My rescue lady wants to give me 2 older budgies so that they will be ensured a good home for the rest of their lives. I guess all I can do is try. Will probably separate the happy pair towards the end of January, add the new cage mates and see what happens. :grbud:
