Suicidal Bird

I got up this morning, and was refilling my birdy bowls when I stopped to check out my chipped beak birdy. Then I saw the blood. Skye may be an insane girl, but she has her limits. She was fine. I looked at the cobalt boy's head, grabbed him, and put cornflour on his head (which, naturally he shook off). I thought he might not have noticed white cage bars, so I just let him go, and watched as he flew straight into a wall.

He's okay now, I'm watching him carefully. Why is he so suicidal? Could he be blind?

Well, that's a possibility. Any other things you've noticed, to make you think that he is?

Well, he climbs down the sides of the cage and walks close to the side of the cage to find the food and water...when I first had them the other way around, he got his whole head wet a few times and I couldn't work out why.

Oh the poor little guy. Disabled birds seem to find you don't they? Well, then, as you know you will have to leave his cage as it is, don't rearrange things, and find a safe room that he can learn the layout of for his free flight time. I'm glad he's with you Caren, your one in a million

poor chap

So, you're thinking the same as me? Oh, geez...I don't know how or why these 'slightly peculiar' birds single me out...then again, none of my pets is normal.

My cat was seen by an adoptive family at the RSPCA, who turned her down because she's got black patches on her, and she was recovering from a dog bite that broke her leg.

My rats were mostly dumped in the park next door because their ex humans didn't care enough to pay my surrender fee.

The birds, well, it's hard to describe, they gave me the 'budgie-human' look when I chose them.

I'm only one in a million because I'm completely and utterly a doormat for any animal (except my ex husband!) that needs a human to love and be loved by.

Oh Caren, I know what you mean. My oldest boy has been on my case all day today. 'You spend more time with those birds. You run as soon as they make a sound. They get fed more than I do.' So i told him that when he grows feathers and sits on my shoulder I'll treat him the same way. Poor kid - not :)

Vet, vet, vet, vet, vet, vet, vet...

Update on my brainless bird

He's still using his head...I put a plastic jar lid filled with apple babyfood in it on top of the nesting box...So, being the brainless boy he is, he swung upside down on his branch and face planted in it!!:D

So funny! :ausb: :P:( Took me half an hour to clean him up!

:(Laughing out loud): now that is a picture you need to capture
