Posted January 6, 200619 yr Twice over the last few days i've noticed Blinkie doing the most bizarre thing. He sits besides his iodine bell and nibbles that then immediately preens his feet, then takes another nibble and then preens his feet. He just sits and does this for a few minutes then resumes normal behaviour. Why in the world is he doing this?
January 6, 200619 yr Author Like Gherky boy perhaps? He does seem to put it on his toenails though, i wonder what it is.
January 6, 200619 yr have you checked the branch in that area bea? sound very odd indeed....but this is blinks.
January 7, 200619 yr Author have you checked the branch in that area bea? sound very odd indeed....but this is blinks. What would i check for? It's a clean, smooth gum branch that he's had for quite a while. Â He was doing the foot thing again this morning.
January 7, 200619 yr then i'm at a lost, i was thinking so sharp bark or cracked wood becoming a bother to him. Edited January 7, 200619 yr by Nerwen
January 7, 200619 yr Bea, have you looked at the soles of his bifters to see if there is any sign of irritation? Maybe its just a comfort thing or something. Or, perhaps he prefers his iodine to taste a bit sweaty or cheesy! :(Laughing out loud):
January 7, 200619 yr I think Bea's budgies and their behaviour are a reflection upon Bea herself  So are you saying Lin, that Bea takes a bit of her food and then swishes it between her toes and then eats it again
January 7, 200619 yr :hap: I'm not brave enough to actually say that :bluebudgie: I'm just saying Bea is as unusual as her birds :(Laughing out loud):

January 8, 200619 yr Author Bea, have you looked at the soles of his bifters to see if there is any sign of irritation? Maybe its just a comfort thing or something. Or, perhaps he prefers his iodine to taste a bit sweaty or cheesy! :(Laughing out loud): His feet are all clear too. I suppose i can put it down to just being a strange habit. :(Laughing out loud): Â Geez....you guys! I think i need a day off, it's hard to be the target of all mocking. :
March 14, 200619 yr Author I was just thinking about this particular habit of Blinkie's and decided to find the original post rather than start a new one. He still does it, usually after eating, he gives himself a mineral/cuttlebone pedicure. I think he's trying to keep his feet in good condition....they certainly are smooth and lovely. :P
March 14, 200619 yr Has the amount of time he does it or spend on it extented? If not i don't think it's a big issue, if nothing has change to his feet (bar the smoothness) Â Maybe he is making sure he doesn't sratch you with scaly feet
March 14, 200619 yr Author No, he's not becoming more obsessed with it. I usually notice him doing it once or twice a day. He's such a silly boy!
March 14, 200619 yr Here is an idea, what about moving the bell to another area in the cage, he might be getting comfortable where it is. OR since you have a friend coming to visit soon a check up just to be sure?
