Posted January 6, 200619 yr I was wondering if someone can give me an insight as to the gender of my English Budgie. Right now he/she is about 6 weeks old and his/her cere is pinkish purple with pink around the nostrils. Any thoughts as to the sex, or is it too early to tell? I have seen one of his/her clutchmates, and that one had a cere that was totally different- it was entirely pink.
January 6, 200619 yr Just a guess.. but female. Young females will have lighter (whitish) rings around their nostrils. Males will be more uniform pink.. or even purplish. Both males and females can be great pets.. so I don't worry too much over gender.
January 6, 200619 yr if you post a picture if you can, I know the experts here can help you out. It sounds male to me if it is more uniformed.
January 6, 200619 yr Author Thanks guys. I will post a picture within the next couple days (I don't have any close-ups of the cere).
January 6, 200619 yr since you spoke of nothing about white or whitish areas, and spoke of pink all over I would say male. But picture would help heaps Edited January 6, 200619 yr by Nerwen
