I NEED HELP my female has laid an egg in are nestbox not sure how long it was there but she had been in it evryday up untill this morning when she showed simptons of loss of flight and drowseenes my other female had died 2/3weeks ago as i was not there when it happend and the water was rather filthy so i thought it was that. i moved my other pare into this large cage she used the same nest box as the previous but it was cleaned she died this morning when i was out and i have found her egg

ANY HELP ON HOW I SHOULD LOOK AFTER THE EGG OR ON MY DIEING BIRDS PLEASE TELL ME

also her mate has been moved into the small cage with the others mate. the big cage is being disinfected!

By the way the egg is in a box of tissues with a warm light and hand warmer on it

I don't know that the egg would be any good now even if it was fertile. I would just toss it out if I were you and concentrate on getting your remaining budgies to the avian vet for a thorough checkup to see if they've caught whatever the deceased females had.

My first though was that your female may have died from egg binding but seeing as you lost another bird before all this, I would be more concerned about disease. Take the remaining budgies in to be tested and please let us know how it goes.

yes i have rang them yup and they will chek them but the other one was female 2 and i just looked up on egg binding and it may be that.

What are you feeding them? And how old were the females? Maybe they weren't getting enough calcium?

i gave them a mix of food but my 2nd female didnt like to eat the mineral 1 she just ate the plain bird seed.

That's probably a part (if not all) of the problem then. You should make sure your birds are converted to a healthy diet before breeding them. They should get fresh healthy veggies daily, pellets, cuttlebone, and more along with a good fresh seed mix. Not just when breeding but all the time.

yes i will offer them to them more often from now on thankyou for youre help

You're welcome. :P And please let us know what happens at the vet's.
