Posted January 3, 200619 yr We want to create an ever expanding pinned (sticky) topic of useful budgie tips for vistiors and members alike, plus it will be featued on our new look website :ausb: Feel free to post any tips you have found useful. example: A tip on how to remove husks from seed easily with out getting the husks in your face:Take the seed dish and a larger bowl out side. Take the seed dish and from about half a metre above the larger dish pour the seed into the large dish. As the seed falls, the wind will blow away the husks. This only needs to be repeated about three times to remove all of the husk. ************************* Please ensure there is no discussion between tips, this is a tips only thread. January 3, 200619 yr Tip. Feed your Budgerigars their Fruit and Vegetables in the mid afternoon and remove it before night. That way it stops it going off through the hotest part of the day. If you forget to remove it in the afternoon it will spoil less over night. Just remove it in the morning. Edited January 3, 200619 yr by daz
January 3, 200619 yr Author Tip: After cleaning out your pet budgie cage, wipe it over with lemon juice to disinfect it. This won't harm your budgie and will leave a pleasant fresh smell.
January 8, 200619 yr Tip. If you are out during the day (especially if your budgie is alone) leave the radio on while you are gone to keep your budgie company. Tip. If your budgies cuttlebone gets wet or dirty, replace it with a fresh one as soon as possible to prevent bacteria. Always remember to replace chewed cuttlebone regularly.
January 9, 200619 yr Tip If your budgie wont eat veggies, pretend to eat them yourself, it works a treat.
January 9, 200619 yr Tip: House their cage in a suitable location (not in the kitchen where they are exposed to fumes) or, if you live in a cold climate, not right against a window or door where they can catch drafts. Also, do not use scented candles, plug-in air fresheners, etc. their little lungs are very delicate.
January 9, 200619 yr Tip: Eating Fruits and Veggie for the Stubborn Budgie Chopping up your vegitables and fruits, mixing them together and then adding it with the normal seed of tsp of seed a day. Be consistent, in the beginning they may just eat the seed but you will notice within a week they may be trying the new food.
February 3, 200619 yr All Budgerigar owner love to see their birds ...... Well here a great TIP..... For the cages and avairys... PAINT THE WIRE ....a FLAT BLACK COLOUR.... and you will be shocked it looks like the wire has gone..... Try this you be amazed regards Doc
