if your bird is sick and you cant get to the vet straight away for some reason keep it warm and to stop dehydration (which is one of the biggest killers) take a new small paint brush dip it in water and run it across its beak at regular intervals

nice tip but please remember use a new brush not one that had been laying about the house

If you can't find or get a new clean paint brush use a cotton bud.

If you try a siringe and are not expert with it, you could force the water into the lungs and drown the bird.
