Posted December 28, 200519 yr I came across a site with heaps of budgie photos on it, and some had quite unusual colouring, so I was wondering what they would be called. Thanks 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Edited December 28, 200519 yr by lani
December 28, 200519 yr OOHH Me first What fun, should I wait or answer :hap: I can't stand waiting (Laughing out loud) 1.Double factore Dominant Pied Violet 2. (not 100% sure) Grey green Normal 3. Yellowface type 2 grey Dominant pied 4. Clearwing green 5. Green Clearwing and I believe tufted as well 6. yellowface type 1 7. sk blue opaline spangle 8. Yellowface type 1 Mauve. I want numbers one, three seven and eight
December 28, 200519 yr The second one looks like a dark factor virging on olive. If it had brown wings I would say cinamon. Yhe first one is a dominant cock Lin because it's cere is coloured. a recessive pied cock has a pink cere.
December 28, 200519 yr Nerwen, can you explain the characteristics on the first one for me? As daz said the cere colour is blue not pink. The wing and head mkarings look like a recessive, but the dots of colour are higher than normally found on a recessvie. Also look closely and you can see the iris ring in the eye. The second one looks like a dark factor virging on olive Is it does look like an olive, but it's not really green enough Idon't think to match that, looking at it again I would stick with grey green. oh and the last is an opaline as well Edited December 28, 200519 yr by Nerwen
December 28, 200519 yr What beautiful birds!! Nerwen, you are funny , thank you for the answer because I surely didn't know them (not joking) I certainly love 1., 7 & 8 (all there coloring are so neat!!)
December 28, 200519 yr The Double factor dominant pied can also `have the pink cere and orange beak.. The number 1 picture you can just see the iris..
December 28, 200519 yr I love the pictures on that sight.. #8 Liriel is one of the most beautiful budgies I've ever seen.. I think she says hes dark grey. Here's his page. http://www.birds-online.de/meine_sittiche/...e/liriel_en.htm

Here's his page. http://www.birds-online.de/meine_sittiche/...e/liriel_en.htm He isn't a grey. Grey budgies have grey cheek spots, this one Liriel had dark ble ones, making him mauve. Looking at the other pictures on the site number four is a spangle as well. Edited December 28, 200519 yr by Nerwen
December 28, 200519 yr He does look purple-ish near his legs.. I thought gray budgies had dark blue cheek spots. Here's what Pretty looked like. Plus you can see how much bigger he (mostly English budgie) was.
December 29, 200519 yr the coloring difference is great. The #8 looks like a slate blue if I say so myself very neat coloring. Ash is gorgeous!
December 30, 200519 yr He does look purple-ish near his legs.. I thought gray budgies had dark blue cheek spots. Here's what Pretty looked like. Plus you can see how much bigger he (mostly English budgie) was. are all greys big budgies? cause the breeder i brought my budgie off had a massive grey budgie who could have almost been as big as a cockatiel (or bigger, he was huge!) or is it that alot of grey budgies are english budgies? Slate or slate blue is an incorrect term for mauve I havn't seen many pet budgies in gey, and as i think about i haven't seen any but i may have and forgotten
December 30, 200519 yr I think number 2 is a texas clearbody, it reminds me so much of budgeover's budgie Rocky #1 and he was a texas clearbody.

No not all Greys are big like not all recessed pieds are small.
December 30, 200519 yr I love Ash.. I hope you get lots more like him Daz.. I hardly ever see gray budgies - big or small. I looked all over the place for another one.

January 3, 200619 yr I think number 2 is a texas clearbody, it reminds me so much of budgeover's budgie Rocky #1 and he was a texas clearbody. It's possible the body seems to match that, but from what i know about this one (and mind you this isn't much even with owning one ) they should have grey toned flight wings.
January 5, 200619 yr Great pictures! I knew #1 was a dominant pied, but how do you tell that he's a double factor? Edited January 5, 200619 yr by Ausmoz
January 5, 200619 yr Great pictures! I knew #1 was a dominant pied, but how do you tell that he's a double factor? He is marked like a recessive, but has the visible iris ring. He also has a blue cere and darker beak, which you do not have with a recessive pied. Edited January 5, 200619 yr by Rainbow
January 5, 200619 yr as rainbow said (great to see you still ) df pied nornall have less marking than sf factor ones.
