What Does It Mean When...........

:P Okay, my breeding without a nest box pair are back out in the living room with the rest of the birds. First the female (and then the male) are rounding out their wings like they are too hot, are they just recoiling from the cooler temps of "jail" (the spare bedroom) or preparing to once again, procreate? sigh :P

:ausb: Disregard this topic, don't need any advice, male was mounting female as I walked by. ARGH!! No choice now but to separate them for a month or so. :P

Oh dear, all I can say is she is one sexy bird :P

I'm wondering if maybe it is a hormone imbalance? Not sure, but yes, your right, all you can do now is seperate them.

:P Would like to put her up for adoption and get a male for Comet but I just cannot do it, who knows what lousy home she would end up as she is already a rescue, will make the best of things, maybe get Comet another male budgie and Star another male buddie as there is no way she would continue on her breeding ways or would she? Don't like 2 females together as it just doesn't work. Opinions? This is just too weird. Really don't have the room but will make it work if I have to. :P

Two females can work, they will nag at each other, and 'fight' but generally not seriously. I have 4 females and 1 male in a cage, and the females complain at each other all day long, have little tussles, but no major problems. I think as long as you have a cage that is large enough for them to have their own 'territory' they should be fine. What do others think?

:ausb: Yes, my cages can easily accomodate 2 birds, have all the toys and food dishes and stuff but I don't have the space unless I start piling them up on the floor, will find SOME solution. :) Nothing is ever easy, including pets!!!

:) You should see my house, which is just a tiny little hovel. I currently have 3 really large cages in here, plus 2 smaller ones, but they are still quite big. To eat, the kids have to move the quarantine birds off the kitchen table  None of us would have it any other way, would we? :(Laughing out loud):

Lin, I don't have serious issues with hens either. Lately all the girls have been voluntarily seperating themselves at night from the boys (LOL) so I have 6 hens in one cage. They squabble for a few minutes when the lights go out, but seem to get along fairly well otherwise. Phoebe, you have some seriously oversexed budgies!

Terri brought some really good cages pretty cheap that stack on top of each other. You should pm her and ask about where she got them, i think it was online.

 Thanks guys, like I said, I do have a suitable cage and no shortage of budgies to adopt, it's just where to put the cage!! Already, with 6 cages I have to drag the table out into the middle of the living room if I have people for dinner. And this is just a rental place, will have to move when my landlord retires next year. Could get a stackable situation but the cages aren't so glamorous and I don't have the $$ right now, have to spend it on a new computer!! Will reconsider the whole situation after the 27th, too much happening right now both here and @ work!! :)
