I saw THE wierdest thing today. We were at the pet shop looking at budgies (only looking ) and i saw a recessive pied green budgie.....BUT it's head was green. Not vegetable green (like it had been eating) but really truely it had a green head! If it's still there after xmas i'm going to go and get it. I've never seen anything like it before and if i hadn't been learning about mutations i wouldn't have looked twice at it. Is it common to get green headed budgies or have i discovered something interesting?

I've never heard of a green headed budgie, you sure it was green not some odd coloured light reflecting?

Well i'm hoping it'll still be there on boxing day or the day after. I might get lucky because both dad and Tim looked at it and thought it was ugly so for people not realising it's very special it's not ultra attractive (especially next to the GORGEOUS yellow faced blue pieds!). Keep you're fingers crossed for me, it was only a baby and i thought it was a cutie. There was also a really gorgeous 'punk' budgie (crested, dad renamed it) with it's head feathers flattened out, it looked so cool!

I would have gotten it there and then. Hey Bea, you can always phone them and tell them you want it, and not to sell it

I would have gotten it then too but dad's a cheapy butt and i have no money, i'll use my xmas money.

okay, I am back I didn't find ANYTHING on it Bea...I think you should march back up there. The only think I can think of is that the yellow is very dark and looks green or it really is green

The green was really green, i swear i saw it and just stared and stared to make sure it was really like that and not my eyes playing up.

Wow Bea, I have never seen any budgie with a green face...I hope it's still there so you can but it and post a picture!!! Those black faced budgies are totally "freaky looking" as you put it

I hope it's there too. I promise that if it's there i will get it. If it's not then i will get the crested one or one of the gorgeous yellow faced blues anyway, (Laughing out loud)! Well i'm rich, rich, rich! Was expecting about $30 - $40 xmas money but my relatives paid me and my brother well....i got $130! :dbb1: Now i can actually afford a budgie (the green one *crosses fingers*).....and i'll have more than enough to go to the movies tomorrow still! :ausb:

Yep :dbb1: I just thought of something and i think it is a silly question but I just have to ask it but are you sure it was a budgie and not another bird in the same cage?

:ausb: Course it was a budgie. I'm soooo excited now, i've just gone and cleaned one of my spare cages all ready for the new budgie. Dad's agreed to take me tomorrow. :dbb1:

Yes, the pet shop's closed till Wednesday. It's open 8am - 6pm everyday EXCEPT PUBLIC HOLIDAYS!

Aww dratz, well at lest the bird is safe from others until then.

That's the only good thing. Will have to convince dad to take me right on opening time on Wednesday, (Laughing out loud).
