December 23, 200519 yr :budgiedance: That's so terrible! my sympathies to you, Good luck with the young ones I really hope they all make it. -Please keep us posted
December 23, 200519 yr That's great to hear lin, the fact that they have the energy to do more than fight for life is a very good thing, even more so when they use that energy to do normal everyday things.
December 23, 200519 yr Lin, I was having problems with my email yesterday, Ive contacted my friend for you within the last 10 mins or so. Everyone, please note, when I said she was the only person I knew personally who could help, I didnt mean to disregard the wonderful people here! It sounds terrible reading back how I worded that! I simply meant someone I usually have daily person-to-person contact with! Ihope I didnt offend anyone here! Anne
December 23, 200519 yr Thanks Chirps, at the moment I have a full crop (I think) on Pommy, but Pengy has decided not to eat :budgiedance: Of course it's evening, so I can see another sleepless night happening for me tomorrow. But they are both so much stronger. Pommy has one eye shut, but I know the eye is uninjured, as I saw him before the lid closed. I am hoping it will heal nicely. Personalities are showing now - Pengy tries to steal the food out of Pommy's mouth :bluebudgie: And Pommy just heads for the high ground - he appears to enjoy getting tangled in my hair, his favourite is wrapping it around his neck :oliveb:
December 23, 200519 yr Ihope I didnt offend anyone here! Of cuase not Chirpy. You did what you could which was to connect someone you known, Lin had already taken the steps to talk to us, you where simply calling up the reserves. :budgiedance: Aww Lin they sound like darlings.
December 23, 200519 yr Awesome Lin, keep us updated and of course pictures. Chirpy, I didn't take offense either. :budgiedance:
December 23, 200519 yr ohh! I was begining to get all emotional during that story- and the picture of poor little pommy just made my heart sink.. I'm glad to hear they are doing well though. Hey bea had a good idea.. Photo Diary! *hint* (Laughing out loud).
December 24, 200519 yr Thanks everyone! I weighed them today, Pommy ways 32 grams and Pengy weighs 28 grams Pengy is the one who is not eating properly, any hints to get him to swallow food is appreciated, I am using a syringe on him Edited December 24, 200519 yr by Lin
December 24, 200519 yr I just saw this - Lin you are doing a great job. They are so cute!!!! 28 grams is a fine weight (they are the smaller type budgies, right?) so I wouldn't worry about him being underweight. If you are syringe-feeding them just keep that up. You should be able to get some formula into them that way, whether they like it or not. How often do you do it? Soften up some pellets, soak some seed, or give them millet now too. They look old enough to be able to start experimenting with food. Congratulations to you!
December 24, 200519 yr Are you adding apple baby food to the mix? If not then give that a go, i've smelt hand rearing mix and it doesn't exactly smell delicious. Pommy looks so cute, and look at his crop! Great job.
December 24, 200519 yr You might have to resort toforce feeding. Remember what Hath said, Don't let then dehydrate. All the best Lin
December 24, 200519 yr I just resorted to feeding Pengy straight baby food -apple and cereal (Heinz , so no added anything). Well, little piggy ate an entire teaspoon So, I'm happy now :ausb: I am going to pop in some millet - I bought some Japanese millet, which is loose millet, not on the stalk, hopefully they will eat some. I am demand feeding (just like my kids ) it's probably every 2 or 3 hours during the day til I go to bed, about 11 or 12 (later tonight as I am playing Santa), then a feed the moment I get up. I'll weigh every day or so, and as long as there is steady weight gain, should be fine. Thanks for everyone's support You helped save 2 adorable and gorgeous lives
December 24, 200519 yr I'm glad to hear they are all still with us. A fantastic job on your part well done Merry Christmas to you all
December 24, 200519 yr (later tonight as I am playing Santa) :fear Why, what's wrong with Santa? Is he sick?
December 24, 200519 yr oooh Lin, me toooooooo! half cut? perfect! we should gab and put the world to drunken rights :(Laughing out loud):
