The baby budgies in the nest box are all looking very hot. :ausb: They are lying down differently to how i remember the last clutch laying if that makes any sense. I have a cooler that i can move into my bedroom if i need to but unless it's pointing right where you need the coolness to be it's pretty usless so if i was to have the cooler pointing right at the breeding cage would it be too cold? I wouldn't want freeze them to death! :bluebudgie:

I should think it would be fine Bea, they are in the box, so they won't get a chill from the breeze. Mum will sit on them if they get too cold, and if you watch that, you can turn it off for an hour and then turn it back on

I don't know much about breeding, but what about proping the lid of the nest box open a little so there is more ventilation?

Try that Bea. Lit the lid a bit on the nest box and see if that helps

okay, so far i've put a wet cloth on top of the nest box and i can turn the lid so it's getting more ventilation. :bluebudgie: I would prefer to keep the cooler out of my room if at all possible so i might also try shutting the blinds a little to dim the room. *sigh* Never again will i allow budgies to breed over summer!

:( I wasn't going to breed them but I found out that the breeding area and in the breeding cages where cooloer than the aviary. :rip:

I think I am doing them a favour. :bluebudgie:

aww Bea ope all goes well and a simple fan on in your room and help keep them cool as well. Might be less ricky than a cooler (not really sure what you mean by that, since to me it means an eski :bluebudgie:)

That will ventalte the air around making room cooler.

Wish I had a cool spot in the house but my home is an oven in summer and an icebox in winter >_<

The cooler is i guess a fan except it hasn't got the thing than spins around so it's more like portable air conditioning really. :D

This is what i've done so far and the babies have come back together in the tangle of pink you usually see. :P

i use a fan set about 6 to 10 feet away that moves so there isnt a constant draft

Yeah, i wouldn't be able to do that in my room because 1: we don't have a moving fan and 2: there's hardly 6 feet of space away from the cage that i could put a fan. ^_^

then I would put in a fan neer the window and have it going but no on the cage, simply to get fresh air in the air and a cooling sort of wind.

But the wet cloth seems to be doing a good job too.
