She's done it! My Grassy girl's worked out what the breeding box is for!

Is there any way I'll know she's going to lay? I've seen her doing the kissy stuff, the catch me if you can stuff and the 'birdy mambo'. Her poop is becoming large now, so should this be taken as a sign?

Oooh exciting! I think that just before laying their vent becomes larger, but I'm not sure. Is Daddy going in the box too?

all those are signs that she is getting ready to lay. There will be some swelling around her vent area and if she was like my Freckle she may even pluck herself in that area. All signs that something is happening, but i'm sure it will still shock you when the first one appears.

No, Daddy's not going in, but he's happily feeding her while she's in.

 

Oooohh...this is so exciting! I've been Grandma to baby mice, rats, a possum, 3 chooks, and soon budgie eggs, I can't wait!

Is it normal for her to sit on top of the box to sleep, instead of sitting on the perch?

yeah, mine climbed all over theirs and chewed the top of it
