One of the babies is just past 1 week are they too young?????? Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kt
December 10, 200519 yr By the sound of it you are colony breeding which a lot of people don't like for this exact reason, the hens fight. The 4 week old babies can be separated into a separate cage with their dad because at that age their dad is the main carer. The others you can either hand rear yourself (you would need someone experienced to show you how or you could try fostering the newest chicks into the nest with the 2 week old babies then removing the other hen. That's all i can really think of. Hope it helps. You should probably have some handrearing mix and a syringe on hand just incase the dads won't feed the babies or for some other reason you need to take over. By the way, i've moved this topic to where more people with breeding experience are likely to see it.
December 10, 200519 yr Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!! Do you know what I could do with the baby thatr is bleeding? Will he be okay with hias parents??
December 10, 200519 yr Has the bleeding stopped now? If not you could put some corn flour on it which helps to stop bleeding (i think normal flour is fine too). It should be fine with it's parents just make sure there's no more attacks. If there is then you should remove it.
December 10, 200519 yr YAY!!! I have put them back with their parents and they are fine. They are in a seperate breeding cabinet. Thankyou Bea!!!!
December 21, 200519 yr An injured budgie needs to be seen by a vet, not just tossed back in with the parents. Even if the bleeding's stopped, you said one was bleeding very badly. Please at leat have that one seen, it's probably in quite a bit of pain.
