Just A Few Questions

About a week ago i noticed afew changes to my breeding pair of budgies,

they eat green vegatables all the time, they are going into the nesting box, the male is chewing on the perches and trying to mount the female does this mean i will have :nest: eggs soon?

Also if they lay what colour babies will they have?

The male is coloured like this :bluebudgie: and the female is a rainbow budgie with green and blue on the chest with a yellow head and back.

Do budgies, Rosa bourkes or Cockatiels have a breeding season or do they breed all year round?

Well the budgies certainly sound like they are courting so it shouldn't be too long before eggs appear.

I cannot help you with baby colours but one of the genetics lovers will be able to provide some hints.

Bourkes will pretty much breed in the warmer months. The success I've had breeding them is between December - March. The other times they lose interest & let the babies die. They will not breed in the same cage/aviary as budgies.

Don't know anything about cockatiel breeding sorry.

i hope wher you are it is still cool or that you have a sool area for your breeding budgies, the heat takes it it out of the pair and the babies can die from it. If there is a reason you wish to breed right now then make sure it is set up for the hot summer months.

and yes it sounds like they are courting well.

The male is coloured like this and the female is a rainbow budgie with green and blue on the chest with a yellow head and back.

does the male have the body colour on the wings as well or are they just balck and white.

Does your hen have any black markings on the wings or it is a straight yellow?

so far I can tell your your male is a sky blue, one i have the answer to the wings i can tell you more and your female is a yellowface type 2 (again more info on the wings before I can tell you more)

The babies will all have yellowfaces (like mom)

okay, my male has white, black and blue on his wings and my female has yellow and black on the wings.

Also my male has a white face. Do you think that budgies could breed in a cooler place in my pool area under cover, because alot of wind blows up there all day?

Thanks for the Rosa Bourke help :D :D :D

as long as it's isn't a draft, it could work

okay it sounds like your male might be a opaline.

Like this:

bit where the green is on her your's should have blue.

In the case all female babies will be opaline yellowfaces. All the male babies will be yellowface normal split for opaline. Meaning they have the opaline gene but it doesn't show on their feathers.
