Posted November 29, 200519 yr Whats the best thing to feed a budgie to help him gain weight? My budgie Eric doesn't seem to put on much weight, I've had him for three years and he's always been a bit light. He's about the same size as my other budgie but he only has to look at a stick of millet to put on weight. Eric was sick at the beginning of this year and went down hill faster because he didn't have much bulk on him, he recovered thankfully, but I would like to get him a bit fatter incase it ever happens again. He eats the same as the other budgie. All advice appreciated. Thanks :hap:
November 29, 200519 yr I would weigh him before trying to fatten him up. It's really hard to tell whether or not they're at a good weight by looking at them or feeling them. Even better, have a vet do it the first time for you if you haven't done all this already. He might be at a good weight and just on the small side. It would be worse to cause him to become overweight as that causes common problems in budgies like fatty tumors.
