Oh yeah, IS...don't know why i wrote was. :D

Okay, I go with what Bea says, but 2 looks like brown markings to me. So, that means a cinnamon?

:D: No cheating Lin, if your the same as Bea give me some reasons.

Well, for 1 I thought it was recessive pied. Pied because it has 2 colours on it, and recessive because I get confused, but I changed to dominant when I read Bea's answer

And number 3, I don't have a clue, so Bea's answer is as good as any.

Number 2, I told you in the last answer

I love the bird in you signature Nerwen, you'd swear he knew you were going to put a Santa hat on :(Laughing out loud):

I know the 1st one for sure is a dominate pied, and that is because of the spot on the back of his head and his bright blue cere. I can do pieds the rest just :P me

It certainly was! :(Laughing out loud):

:fear

Everyone is right with number one. Tha't my Pie. Would it shock you all to know that I couldn't work out what he was when I first came here :)

Yes!! I can't imagine you not knowing about genetics! :fear

:D Thank you Bea. The reason was becuase his irsis ring would come and go  So I wasn't sure if it was there becuase he was afraid of me or becuase of the gene. After a few more months it became clearer.

I still go with dilute for number two. Looks just like Crystal, only not pied. Doesn't diluted mean less intense than normal? I'm thinking if you dilute anything, it is not as strong. Nerwen, please explain to me why I am wrong. :)

I can't remember you not knowing what pied is.

:)

Your not wrong totally Rainbow, he is a TYPE if dilute but not the third level of the gene. Which confusingly is called dilute as well. Guess there is no other trying here, so I will tell you picture 2 is a Greywing. (2nd level) and Yes the last is Freckle who is a goldenface spangle, but I was only after the spangle bit. Well done Bea

NEW LESSON

okay lets try something a bit different, let focus on the relationship fo certain genes and how they appear on young. Don't panic I'll use the ones we have covered. Just want to see that people are understanding the dominant and recessive part of these genes. Points given if you can just tell me if they are dominat or recessive or something else -_^. (ps no hidding traits unless stated)

Pair One

Blue SF Spangle cock X Green Normal hen

Pair Two

green cock/ clearwing X yellowwing hen

Pair Three

Blue Pied (no iris ring) cock X Blue normal/ pied hen

Pair Four

Opaline Blue cock x Normal blue Hen

good luck all

Bea and Daz no answering for five days :D:

*edit* fixed up one thing, sorry Ausmoz but I thought I better before some one nit-picked my work sheet :D

Edited by Nerwen

Pair One

Blue Spangle cock X Green Normal hen

okay, edited answer:

50% Green spangles, split green/blue, spangle/normal (=heterogygote for both genes) (males and females)

50% Green normals (males and females) (green/blue, normal/normal = heterozygote green, homozygous normal)

Pair Two

green cock/ clearwing X yellowwing hen

er.... need more reading, no idea

Pair Three

Blue Pied (no iris ring) cock X Blue normal/ pied hen

50% pied (males and females),

50% normal blue (males and females) (blue/pied - split = heterozygotes)

Pair Four

Opaline Blue cock x Normal blue Hen

50% opaline females

50% normal blue males (blue/opaline - split = heterozygotes)

Lots of fun, but a bit late to think properly now... so if I've made lots of mistakes I blame my sleepy head!

Oh Nerwen, I'm still trying to identify colours, that's way too much for me :D

Lin - dominant or recessive or something else?? That's all I ask for :D

It's an open book test, feel free to look over everything again, the links to the other threads are at the start of this one.

Lin- What would you like to explore next?

ummm, errr, can we go back and do some more basics???? And I don't even know what? My brain is like mush Nerwen, I just don't seem to be able to use the information when it's not in a lesson :ausb: :):D
