Won't Sit On Perch

I switched the plastic perch in the cage for a branch this morning. The girl wouldn't sit still, but she at least used it to bounce around on.

The boy sits on the floor of the cage and tries to sleep. He wasn't hand tame, but I stuck my hand in the cage and scooped him up, he didn't try to bite. He sat on a headrest for ten minutes, I think he dozed off.

Should this be attributed to travel and a new home, or what? I hope I haven't been sold a sick bird.

Caren, given the state of the cage when you got them, it is possible they are sick, or maybe badly undernourished. What are the droppings like? Sitting fluffed up? You poor thing, I hope they aren't sick. They could also have been mistreated quite badly, you just don't know. I have had birds before that have had their cages bashed on to shut them up, they can be quite traumatised for a while

Hugs Caren, I hope they are okay. Keep us updated.

He sounds sick. :) Normal un-tamed budgies just don't allow themselves to be picked up and the don't stay on the floor. Hope it's not too bad and he gets over it real quick.
