Posted November 17, 200519 yr I have been away for 2 weeks and had a house sitter in to feed the dog and birds. My two budgies have had eggs before but she has killed the babies as they hatched. To my surprise we have two very big babies. Im not sure what happened to the other 3 eggs i assume that mum had got rid of them or eaten them. They are starting to get their feathers but in patches is this normal? Barnesy Edited November 17, 200519 yr by barnesy

November 18, 200519 yr Hi barnesy. As long as the babies have fluff all over them, the feathering can be a little sporadic at first. If there are bare patches with no feathers, they are probably being plucked. Can you post pics?

If there are bare patches with no feathers, they are probably being plucked. Can you post pics? I have checked and no feathers or fluff it looks like mum is plucking out the feathers - so I have removed them from the nest. shes not spending much time in there with them and they were hungry.
November 19, 200519 yr Ive added a couple of pics of the birds - I hope the link works - if it does you can see how bald the birds are. barnesy http://photobucket.com/albums/a52/barnesyoz/?sc=3

November 20, 200519 yr Oh the poor little buggars. Is dad feeding them okay.Cindy I have teken them out of the nest and hand feeding them they seem very frightened at first and seem to lay on the floor or the box I guess to keep away from mum. Its now day 2 out of the box and they are starting to stand up a bit and look around instead of trying to hide their heads. barnesy
