cage help!

hi guys

i want to get sparky a little friend, he is in a parrot cage at the moment which is 32 inches high and about 18 inches across, i already have 2 open feeders and 2 tube feeders in the cage and he sits on his cuttlefish when hes in the cage(thats when hes not shredding the books on the shelf!) :(Laughing out loud):

so i was wondering is this cage big enough for 2 birds? if not i cant afford a new cage right now so i will have to wait, i leave the door open all day so at the moment he only goes back to the cage to sleep and eat.

i feel sorry for him though as he chats away to himself all day and i really want to get him some company.

or has anyone in the uk got any cages for sale?

thanks jodie xxx

i have teapot in a parrot cage, and id say its well big enough for two budgies :)

also teapot chatters a lot to himself, but im able to spend lots of time with him, so im pretty sure he isnt lonely (although i have wondered) dont forget he may not be quite as tame if he gets a feathered pal, and if you dont want to breed, get another male, and remember to quarrantine. good luck :)

hi chirpy

ive been off work since ive had him and im going back to work tomorrow so he will be on his own until 5:30pm,

whats quarrantine? he went in his bath for the first time before...its the cutist thing ive ever seen!

i might wait another month then until hes tamer, he keeps edging closer to me now and he stares at me to figure out what im doing!

p.s. how do you get the picture up next to your name?

When you quarantine a new bird, you keep them in a completely different room from your original birds. You should feed and interact with the new bird last, and wash your hands well after handling him/her or cleaning the cage, etc. Some people even recommend changing your clothes after being around the new bird. A usual quarantine is 30-45 days. This is to (hopefully) be able to prevent your new bird from passing unapparent illness to your current birds, as most illnesses will make themselves apparent in that amount of time. When the quarantine is over, you can introduce the new bird to the old ones. I usually just move the new bird's cage to the same room as the first birds, where they can see each other, but not get at each other. I leave them this way for about a week, then I will supervise them both being out of their cages at the same time. It seems a long time to keep them seperate, but believe me it is worth it. If the new bird ends up being sick and you didn't quarantine, then you have to medicate all the birds and instead of only having one bird hate you for awhile, you have them all feeling that way. :):):(

Hi jodie :) well, rainbow has answered your question abut quarrantine perfectly :) it just helps protect your current bird/birds from harm, and its well worth doing.

As for your other question, if you go to MY CONTROLS in the main menu (its at the top right hand side) and click on it, you will see on the list that opens on the left all things to choose from, like 'edit my signature' 'or edit my avatar'. to get teapots picture on all my posts, i clicked on edit my signature, and uploaded teapots picture on to it. press okay once upload has been completed, and BINGO! :(
