Posted November 10, 200519 yr i have a pair with seven chicks ,the breeding box seems a little damp and i am worried about bacteria ect. should i place some paper towel in the box? move them all to a dry box ? place some wood shavings in there ?or just leave them alone ?there is no way water could be getting in so i assume the moisture is due to the amount of birds in the box. advice greatly apprieciated.
November 10, 200519 yr The moisture is probably from the poopies. I've noticed it in my nest boxes too. Paper towel is a good idea but mummy bird will probably shred it up and kick it out, same would probably happen with wood shavings. Just clean out the poops each day and hopefully that'll help reduce the moisture.
