Has anyone used Johnson's scaly lotion before.

Well it looks like the right stuff basically its made out of paraffin oil and a combination of lotions

Takes about 2 weeks to work I apply everyday for four days then wait 2 weeks and re-apply again then I keep the bird in quarantine for 30 days so the other birds don?t get it.

If the above treatment is not working take the bird to a vet as it maybe a virile infection or a new type of mite infestation

Remember I am not a vet or unless stated are any of the other members please use your own decreation and always consult the professionals

I think you will find that most of the 'over the counter' medications for scaly face/feather mite etc are basically weakened versions of the prescription treatments. The best thing you can do regarding conditions such as this (in my opinion) is take your bird/birds to the avian vet and he will usually treat the bird with the highly effective ivermectin. Bird mites can be extremely stubborn, so my view on ut is get them erradicated with proffessional back up.

did you do anything different to what it said on the box.

it said apply every second day,and apply six times.

Did you treat the legs and feet too? Even if there are no symptoms there, I believe it's possible for them to get it there and reinfect their face.

i did the face and feet,its not easy to put on.

i use a cotton bud,maybe i'm not using enough,

its saying use 2 drops,i put about 4 drops on the cotton bud

and apply.not sure if its getting 2 drops when added to the cotton bud.

if its not working it would be much better to get ivermectin from your vet. i think ivermectin only has to be applied once so it is much less stressful for the birdies.
