Posted October 31, 200519 yr Just a quick question. I was just wondering if the breeding season is the same for budgies in all countries?
October 31, 200519 yr Yep. Spring/summer but of course that's at different times of the year in different countries
October 31, 200519 yr and I have had birds sucessfully breed in Nov/Dec in the Northern Hemisphere - which equates to Autumn/Winter here. I think they were both ready , the nest box looked okay and I was prepared to pay the heating bill! But it was unusual.
October 31, 200519 yr Some breeder will only breed from Autum to Late Spring. Some will breed all year round..But not with the same birds.
October 31, 200519 yr Well, you get way hotter up there Daz than we do, I can see why you'd start in autumn!
October 31, 200519 yr pet budgies spring summer show birds mainly starts winter to spring (november to around april may) in the uk
October 31, 200519 yr Come live in Melbourne, we get all 4 seasons in 24 hours! Seriously a pain! You can start breeding in early spring here, you might get a few 40c+ days, a few 18c- days, and a couple of rainy days. The only way to guage this stuff here is to follow average temperatures, that way you can guess what the weather's gonna do! :(Laughing out loud):
November 1, 200519 yr Pretty much...Pet budgies usually have their temperature's stabilised too, so they don't have extremes to worry about. They don't have to worry about food or water, it's supplied. Predators are kept at bay too...What wouldn't I give to live my budgies life?? :feedbirds:
November 1, 200519 yr Yeah, hehe, it seems like it would be so easy just so sit there look pretty and eat food.
