The Fallow Mutation, a gene must produce red eyes in the adult bird. be reccessed in inheritance and change all black pigments to light brown shades without altering any other pigmentation. Because black and grey are reduced to light brown, the bird loses any deep colour of green and blue, becoming more yellow or white in appearance and lighter in colour over all.

Does that help. :)

I guess if it a fallow

hopefully I will get some better photo's of this bird soon

thanks

kathy

kathy, are you thinking of adding to your flock again????? :)

no no asking for someone at TF

If the blue only really shows up with the flash of the camera, it might be a lacewing. What color is its tail?

from the owner

I can only see the blue on his/her tail and back in real life...

Hi There

I have one similar but it was white to start off with then chaged to blue?

mine has red eyes to

Here's a Picture

that is exactly like the baby i found on my cage yesterday

you were talking about the one with the picture of it's back?

Looks like a skyblue dilute in those pictures.

there are differant types of fallow int he budgie. and this one look to suit ashen or smokey fallow, where the wings are a light grey rather than brown, but the red eye still marks it as a fallow rather than the dilute. If thw wings lookd more grey-brown in real life then it could also be a Dun fallow.

I think that mutations should be as simple as "sky blue with red eyes" or "green with splotches." :D

Woo hoo! *feels smart* :D

Have to agree! The person who made up all the names and rules for budgie colours needed a life :hap:

Nerwen, could you please write out a simple description of fallows for us dummies :)

Fallow- a red eyed bird of any colour with brown markings rather than black.

simple enough?

*GASP*

That description...it didn't make my head hurt! :D Thank you Nerwen.

Yes! :D But what if they have brown markings but not red eyes, or isn't that possible?

What are the different types of fallow - or will I get too confused?

Brown Markings could be a cinnamon or grey wing or an Australian Brown Wing. :D

Not with red eyes though!

Hey kathy, where did you purchsed him/her at?

I would say that this budgie is a Cinnamon Fallow Sky Blue. Does it have iris around the eyes? If yes, it's a German fallow, if not, it's an English. Great find, congrats.

I forgot to say that there is a picture of a Cinnamon Fallow Sky Blue in one of my budgies books and the eyes are red.

That is a cinnamon :D

Ashen or smokey(known as Scottish)Fallow, Dun(known as english)Fallow, Bronze( known as german)Fallow and Pale Fallow Just read that the ashen one is extinct :(

If cuase they are red, becuase it is a fallow. Not sure what it looks like or if they are meaning a mix of the two. Can we see the picture or can you give us the common name for it?
