her poop is still really big

its been about a week and a half since dianne layed her last egg and her poop is still really big, i thought big poop meant that they were either about to lay an egg or are still in the process of laying? is it normal that this is still going on? and isn't it too soon for her to have another clutch?

I think it is normal. Skittles didn't get normal sized poop until she began spending more time outside of the nest box when the babies were older. It is so big because she is not leaving the box very often, and probably only goes a few times a day instead of every 15-20 minutes as usual. I think the babies were probably about 3-4 weeks old before it began to look closer to normal.

(Laughing out loud) yay what does she win eh???

okay thanks guys! i'm also concerned though because none of the eggs were fertile so i emptied the nest box but she still spends all of her time in there with no eggs! i know it is too soon for her to lay again, is she just getting prepared to lay another clutch in a week or so or does she think that there are still eggs in there?

ummmm.... good question!! not sure really!! sorry i cant help but hath might no hes clever n all

tequilabudge you should have blocked the nest box hole up for 3 to 4 days to make sure she has time with the **** then given access as you mite end up with another clear clutch if its been 7 to 10 days since you took the eggs away she could be getting ready to lay again

oh you're right i never thought of that, i'm not a very experienced breeder, up until now i've just kinda let the other ones i've bred do their own thing and sometimes it has worked and other times it has not, this is the first breeding pair that i personally own, the others i was just in charge of at the breeding program at my school.
