Posted October 15, 200519 yr No hatching yet. But no more eggs either!!!!!! One thing though she can't handle all these eggs. She can handle 7 eggs for a while. Then shhe falls asleeps and 2-3 eggs escape. What if it's never the same egg? What if all the babies in the aggs have died? How can i tell which eggs are okay and those who are not? _If i would eliminate the bad eggs now, it would probably be easier For poor Bobette to go, No?
October 15, 200519 yr You can hold the eggs up to a torch and if there are little veins showing then it's good. However, i wouldn't throw eggs away just because you can't see anything. I checked Sandy's eggs and thought only 2 were fertile yet so far i have 3 babies. Bobette is probably rotating the eggs well and you could be over reacting - like all us expectant budgie mummies do - just trust her.
October 15, 200519 yr Also, the eggs don't need to be under the hen all the time, sometimes she pushes them out so they don't overheat. She's experienced, don't worry, she'll be fine!
October 15, 200519 yr Really???? I get so anxious - we don't want no trauma nor drama for anyone here - Everyone is looking up to Bobette right now... I should be any way next week so... I can't wait Haaaa Bobette is really an intelligent beast. 1 1/2 weeks ago, i realised there was no cavity in my nesting box. So i switch (very quickly) nest an i dug a hole, then puts the eggs back. in. It took - about 5 mins. But she doesn't want to group the eggs in the hole. About the time when i started noticing she wasn't laying on all the eggs, she started lining them to one side of the nest. She has been lining them like this for a week. Ididn't understand what she was doing. But she has a strategy. She lines them, so they can't roll from that side, then she lays on the ground and lines them up from chin to belly - she figures she gets more egg coverage that way. By The Way : what does an egg that's about to hatch look like? Is it heavy light, translucent, opaque? Thank you
October 27, 200519 yr Not really sure, but you can hear little chirps from the egg when it is about to hatch. I did and it with my baby budgies. They are all coming out of the nest now.
October 27, 200519 yr Natouk, it takes approx 18 days for the eggs to hatch from the time the hen starts to Incubate them. She may not start until the 2nd or 3rd one is laid.
November 10, 200519 yr aahahha.. All i can think about now is a tiny egg jumping around chirping (Laughing out loud) its true when they are about to hatch put it next to your ear and you can hear it Edited November 10, 200519 yr by Rainbow
