Posted October 1, 200519 yr Hi everyone! I just got my budgies a brand new cage from a flea market that only costed $80 brand new in the box! I saw the same cage for $100 and up at other places and on the web. I know a few people on here have this same cage but their's may have two doors on it but the same exact dimensions. I bought it a few day's ago (it was for my birthday) and also got a new digital camera!. It was fairly easy to put up the cage, didn't take long at all. Here it is: I'm sorry that I couldn't get one with the whole cage including the stand, but here is how the cage look's exactly but this one has the two little doors. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Large-32-x21-x59-W...1QQcmdZViewItem Here is another cage that I recently got to about a month or two ago. I'm thinking about using it in the near future when I breed my birds. This cage here only has one Nest-box attachment door. The bar's are only a little little bit spreaded apart half of their heads can fit through it. I was thinking about putting wire mesh on the inside, the kind they use for aviary's. I'll also have to re-paint it too because when you touch it, it leaves some kind of white powdery stuff on your hand?? The wood perch on the top of the cage attaches to a little bar right above the two ladders. I'll have to screw that back in also. Edited October 1, 200519 yr by Budgie-Boy
October 1, 200519 yr Author (Laughing out loud), I know those people at that pet store seems like they dont know anything about birds nor the value of cages!. It explains why they are kept in those horrible conditions.
October 1, 200519 yr great cage Budgie-Boy, excellent value for money too! Is it a Montanna cage? I have my birds in Montanna cages, they are lovely and spacious arnt they. I love seeing extra large cages set up for birds
October 1, 200519 yr Author (Laughing out loud), I dont even know what kind of cage it is, it didnt say. I'm fairly new to large cages like this...you really think the set-up look's nice? I was hoping to get some idea's from here. Thanks for the compliment though.
October 1, 200519 yr Yes, looks like you are filling it with plenty of toys for them One thing they might enjoy, you know those long, multi-coulored ropes with an attachment5 at each end? I bet they'd love one of those stretching from high up the cage to low down. My budgies have one, and they love it. :glare:
October 1, 200519 yr Author Are you talking about the rope perches? If so they do have a small one in there, near the back. Bubbles is standing on it. Tell me if you spot it, I know it's kinda hard to see (Laughing out loud).
October 1, 200519 yr Very nice cage, those are one of my favorite types. I wasn't able to get one myself because I would need two so I opted for breeding/flight cages. Speaking of which, why not try breeding cages instead of the large parrot cage when you're ready to breed? With all the things you'd have to change (wire mesh, repainting, etc.) it really doesn't seem safe or worth trying to fix that one up. You can get proper breeding cages very cheap on ebay and they've spacious. The bar spacing is usually perfect as well. The setup looks good, I love looking at what other people do with their cages. Though, I see a lot of toys but not many perches?
October 1, 200519 yr Author I'll look into the breeding cages, thanks. The cage has 5 perches in all, 1 wood perch you can see, the other 2 are hidden by the 2 food cups, 1 rope perch, and 1 green concrete perch next to the cuttle bone. Plus there are 2 swing's and 1 treat perch with a small treat cup on it, and 1 millet holder with a perch at each end. So in all they have 9 spot's to sit in . Oh yeah I forgot about the wood one on the door of the cage used for where they can perch out of the cage when the cage door is open. So that makes 10 perches in all. October 1, 200519 yr Ahh okay. :glare: I couldn't see them in the picture. In fact, I didn't see the picture well at all! I definitely need a new monitor on my desktop computer. It's so much clearer on this one. I can see all the little spots to sit on the toys and swings now. Looks great.
October 1, 200519 yr The cage that has the 'powdery' stuff - try giving it a good scrub, I'd be worried it is some kind of chemical, and it might solve the problem. Love the cages!
October 2, 200519 yr That is a great Cage. Budgie-Boy. How many Budgies are you thinking of putting in there. It would hold a few.
October 2, 200519 yr Author Yeah (Laughing out loud) I know it's kinda hard to see inside because my zoom isn't that great. I'll try giving the cage a good scrub too, I only wiped it the last time (Laughing out loud). Daz, I think it might be able to hold 6 or 7 budgies in there with out any problem's what do you think? I know Kathy5 or just Kathy on this forum has a cage that is slightly smaller thahjn mive and she said she houses 7 birds in it without any problems. So I may just keep 6 or 7 in it. Thanks for the compliments guy's.
October 3, 200519 yr very nice :hap: I have the one with the two doors with six in it right now and it's great
October 3, 200519 yr Author So nerwen you have six budgies in your cage right now? Without any problems? Are the dimensions like mine? 32"Width, 21" Depth, 69 "Height with the stand and 32"Width, 21"Depth, 35 "Height cage only? Sorry for so many questions
October 12, 200519 yr Nice cages Budgie Boy . Wonderfull Set up . Why buy good wooden breeding cages when you can make your owna lot cheaper . I make my Own and I know Luke and Anne on the forum . Make there own as well I use 5 mm ply and buy wire fronts from the petshop or use avairy wire or bird wire . and it works out cheaper as i payed $50 AUD and can made some for $23.00 each Oh if using aviary mesh you will a door blot and door hing and you will need to use a jig saw to put a door in the breeding cage also and you can also bulid in a breeding box . cheers Nathan
