Budgies And Fireworks?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Its coming up for the time for fireworks around here (they usually start in October and keep going until after bonfire night - November 5th) and I was wondering how budgies react to the noise? Kylie isn't quite as scared of noises as she used to be but its her first fireworks night so I don't know how she will be.

Thanks

Tracey

I'd be interested in the answer actually, because we have big fireworks in January just down the road from me, we're uphill from them and the noise is always horrific here.

Well mine never seem to be bothered by the noise but I tend to put some distraction on for them, radio or t.v. to try and mask the noise and cover them a bit earlier-not much use for aviary owners though.

Beekle acts a bit startled but soon forget about it :P

I know budgies like noise, but I wonder if fireworks might be a bit too much noise?

I'll keep watching this post to see if someone has experienced it.

mine dont seem to be bothered mine are in a birdhouse so i leave a baby night light on so that if they are startled they can get back on to a perch

My budgies don't seem too bothered by the noise, the ones inside just ignore it and i never hear any mad panicking from the aviary.

Hi all

thanks for your input. She will probably be okay but I will keep an eye on her. They have changed the laws here so only council run firework displays are allowed the really loud ones (but someone usually manages to get around that!) so hopefully there won't be too much noisy bangers before bonfire night itself.

ive NEVER had a provlem with my guys and fireworks.. 2 of the dogs are wig winps but thats it. my Dumb brother has fired off a few shots from his cap gun in the house and does it outside all the time and were always out there lighting off fireworks all october right infront of the house and i know last year some were hitting the house cause it fell over and were right down the hill from the BIG canada day ones. and never a problem i swear its like they dont even notice them :|

We don't hear many fireworks nearby, but my brother set off a couple of firecrackers and a roman candle in the yard once, and they didn't seem to mind at all. Just kept on playing and tweeting!
