Posted September 19, 200519 yr :angel1: We had a beautiful budgie for eight years, Joey. Poor little fella died 4 months ago intestinal problems, we felt quite robbed we were intending him to go for twenty years. We have a new little fella now and I am quite concerned about his health. I have read the FAQS topic about health and they talk about aloe vera, I only know this as a plant, how is it applied? Are there other things you guys do, I have him on a worming treatment, feed him fruit - try to vary his siet, anything else. Appreciate any information. Regards Greg
September 19, 200519 yr Hi greg, here is a link to some information about aloe aloe the miracle cure Hope it helps
September 19, 200519 yr Hi Greg, I use aloe vera in my birds mistings. I boy a bottle of 100% pure aloe vera juice from the health shop, and add about 1 tablespoon of the juice to a pint of warm water. Then I mist the birds with it. You have to be careful not to add too much aloe though, because it can make their feathers sticky if you do, and lead to overpreening problems. Used carefully, I find its great. Anne
September 19, 200519 yr A good glug in your bath is marvelous for your own skin Daz Greg, when you say you are concerned about your budgies health, does he appear ill in anyway, or are you just concerned in a 'preventative' way?

September 19, 200519 yr Chirpy, do you use the aloe vera juice in a way to help their feathers or when they preen themselves do they lick some of it off so it gets inside them too? Was just looking on www.hollandandbarrett.com for aloe vera things and the juice is on there, I might get some I don't know where to get the leaves from Greg, sorry about Joey I know how hard it is to lose a pet after having them for so long, hopefully your new bird will be as nice as Joey A quote is when you quote someone elses post in your own post, like you have done in your last post, but a normal reply is just like this post, I haven't used quote because I don't really need to quote anything! I don't know what the difference is between 'fast reply' and 'add reply' though I just use 'add reply' Edited September 19, 200519 yr by nash86
September 19, 200519 yr Fast reply but a box at the bottom of the page to type into (I use it alot) Add relpy is as Nash said. Quote you use to quote more than one person. Hit each one you want them hit add reply and they are all there ready for you to add your comments. "reply give you a relpy with a quote to the post you hit reply on.
