:hap: Hi I have a 8 wks old baby budgie that is hanging around the hillton ( my avairy ) he/she is tame and hand rared and seem to be freting alot so seems it is missing a friend . I will be ringing up a shop later and seeing if they can get me another friend for him/her from the same palce where she came from . But will the both of them stay tame ? !

cheers Nathann

As all mine are in the aviary, and not tame. I am not sure. I will be watching this post too to see what is said :hap:

The best way to do it is to tame the new bird while it's being quarantined so that when you introduce the two, they're both comfortable with you. If you interact with them consistently they should stay tame in the sense that they won't be afraid of you and they'll fly over and hang out with you but the level of tameness can vary from one bird to the next. I have four together but I bought and tamed them each separately so I'm able to handle them all.

Keep in mind budgies do sometimes feed off each other's fears so that makes it especially important that you get the new budgie comfortable with you before introducing it to your other. Just work with them on a regular basis and it should be okay. :hap:

good advice eterri

I paired off an extremely frightened, untameable budgie with my tame budgie. (the scared one was an abuse victim) My tame budgie has never gone any less tame, because I kept up the interaction with him I believe. The scared one? No longer scared, but still untame. So long as she is content, Im happy with that.

Am also in agreement of what Eterri said.

Back to say, if the budgie is tame and hand-reared, it will most likely be the human companion she is pining for at the moment! Hand reared birds can get 'human imprinted' rather than parent imprinted. A feathered friend would be lovely for your bird, by my guess is right now that bird is desperate for human companionship.
