stuff on chest feathers

My budgie Jazz seemed a bit weird yesterday, you know when they are just not being 'right'. Well today on her sky-blue chest it looks like its been wet by something but I picked her up and felt it and her feathers are sort of stuck together, so I don't think it could be water. I've tried getting some photos close up but I don't know whats wrong with my camera, they were all too blurry to be able to see the feathers. The top of her head looks like it has some of this stuff on too, it looks a bit yellow against her white feathers I don't know if I'm seeing things. Yesterday I noticed that her pale blue cere had turned yellowy around the nostrils, I don't know if that could be relavent, it is still slightly yellow around the nostrils. The thing is she is quite young so I don't know if its a different colour because its going to go brown.

I fed them earlier and both my birds ate some seed, I haven't seen either of them drink today but then again I haven't been sitting watching them and they don't drink a huge amount anyway. Yesterday they had apple and brocolli in very small amounts, I haven't given them anything like that today. I opened the cage as usual and Jazz came out but sat on a peg on the side of the cage, usually she would zoom out and scream her head off until Little Bird would come out and follow her. She did go and fly onto the curtain rail and I heard chirping but I think that was Little Bird, Jazz is usually very vocal. Somehow she has a sort of confused look on her face :D When Little Bird had episodes where there was something wrong, there was definately something wrong as she would let me pick her up and would just sit fluffed up on the perch. The stuff on Jazz's chest and her quietness is just making me think theres something wrong, but I don't think shes really ill somehow, when I picked her up she screeched like she normally would, I know they can hide illness though.

I'll be going to the vets tomorrow if she doesn't improve, I don't know what they can do for her as its just a normal vets the nearest avian vets is a few hours away.

I think you're doing the right thing by getting her to a vet and well done for spotting something not right so early on. She does sound to have something wrong with her so she will definitely need to be seen. Keep us up to date won't you?

Julie

I agree with Julie. Sounds like your bird has possibly vomited? Keep us posted!

I was going to say it sounds like your birds been vomitting. Definitely make a vet appointment as soon as possible.
