Worried about this baby

Featured Replies

Youre absolutely right! And my little Andrew is a perfect example of that. But if I hadnt known he had been bitten in the nest, I might have thought it was genetic. What else could you assume?

The day he was bitten, the wound was just like - well, ever been scratched by a cat? (Except it was beak shaped :hap: ) For a long time the beak and cere appeared as though there would be no lasting damage-

gradually however it was clear that the beak was flattened and shifting to one side, and also gradually the damaged part of the cere withered...kinda scary for awhile. Once he fledged, I was constantly at the aviary watching till I was positive he was feeding and grooming himself....

What a little trooper!

I just wanted to share because it would be a shame if some budgie somewhere was destroyed for some "defect" that wasnt present....Thanks for letting me ramble.

Cheers,

Lavender

Oh the poor little mite. It looks sore ( I know it isn't, but it looks like it is). I'm pleased he is doing well, what a shame the beak couldn't have been 'repaired' whilst it was still soft when just a babe

Poor baby! Good thing he's with such a nice owner, most would probably think he was a hopeless case and get him put down. :hap:

my little one was very fortunate that the damaged bit of his beak grow out and he has now been left with a normal beak and found a loving family who know all his history.

Aww.. poor Andrew.. I'm glad to hear that he's able to cope alright..

Monsoon, do you have a picture of the baby after the beak grew out that you could post? I'm glad the little one is doing fine.
