I now have three breeding pairs in the breeding cages.

Bluey and Spangle with the chicks.

Duey and Cinamon

Don't worry too much, I havedesigned an Aviary / Breeding Enclosure to house the Breeding Boxes. I have sent it away to be priced. Who said keeping a few birds was cheap?

The oldest is Chirpy and is destined to come inside with George and Angel. The other is called Tiny and will be joining Razzle with the flock.

Just to mentioned I dropped in to Aussie Pets at Lawnton......$40.00 for a budgie :P

I wonder what they are paying breeders? :P

Daz - they are gorgeous! Worth all the worry and heartache :P

Thanks Lin. you are right, with all the worry they will be staying with me. The parents have been great. Pity about losing the 2nd chick though. But as we know, there is no guarantees in life. :P

They had a mixed cage of Pieds babies I think from memory. What Pet City is Selling for $25.00. I think I'd go to Mt Gravatt rathr than pay the big dollars at Lawnton. :P

My 'mates' moved their pet store from Redbank Plains to Logan Rd Underwood next to the Big Gun, I've only been there once since they moved & they looked in dire need of budgies.

It's called Prestige Pets & Aquariums (or something like that) their birds are good quality and they only charge $20. I used to sell my excess birds to them for $7 each, but would take seed stock in payment for the birds as they have some nice canary, finch & sunflower seed that my birds love mixed in with their budgie seed.

Thanks Karen, I know where that is. I'll have a look this week.

that's a bit for for me to travel :P I'm not that happy with Aussie petstore, they are getting dogs in (not a very good set up either, at lest at the one near me) and their birds seems to be in smaller space with more and dirtier :)

Plus saying they are pied birds when there are heaps of others in the same cage.

I got to agree nerwen the cages at Lawnton needs a good cleaning out.

I wont be buying any birds there. I would rather travel to Mt Gravatt. Pet City is a lot cleaner.

Heres the link to the site. >Pet City<

Plus I'm a member and get the discounts. :P

I bought my very first king quail from Pet City, they were only about $12. I got a nest box from them about 4 years ago for $12 and it's still in superb condition, been used for about 14-15 nests. I will buy some more when I run out of my others as it works out more economical.
