Posted August 30, 200519 yr Just wondering, some budgie seeds contain some mixture of colourful seeds in it. Is it safe for budgies to eat those seeds?
August 30, 200519 yr It's bad for them because it's all dyes and preservatives, not healthy. They are a stupid thing to sell.
August 30, 200519 yr We once tried a seed mix with colored stuff in it, but the birds would not touch the colored part. I guess they are smart!
August 30, 200519 yr All these time, I have to sort out the coloured seeds before giving it to her. I was thinking colours would not be very good for human so it cannot be very good for birds eventhough I didn't ask previously. Finally today I tried putting the coloured seeds in and she actually eats it! So I guess I have to stick to my sorting out routine of the colourful seeds.
August 30, 200519 yr is trill available worldwide? most people tend to use trill as it is one of the highest quality mixes and doesnt have any foreign bits in it.
August 30, 200519 yr Colourful stuff in wild normally = poisenous so birds will be less likely to touch it. I feed budgie 50/50 and some budgie tonic during the moult. During breeding season I use Budgie Breeder made by Haiths.
August 30, 200519 yr Some seeds like the premium stuff we feed has "coloured bits" it's actually fruit and vegetable pieces they've put into the seed. It depends on the brand and the quality.
