Colourful Seeds

Just wondering, some budgie seeds contain some mixture of colourful seeds in it. Is it safe for budgies to eat those seeds?

It's bad for them because it's all dyes and preservatives, not healthy. :D They are a stupid thing to sell.

We once tried a seed mix with colored stuff in it, but the birds would not touch the colored part. I guess they are smart!

All these time, I have to sort out the coloured seeds before giving it to her. I was thinking colours would not be very good for human so it cannot be very good for birds eventhough I didn't ask previously. Finally today I tried putting the coloured seeds in and she actually eats it! So I guess I have to stick to my sorting out routine of the colourful seeds.

Can you not get a seed without the coloured ones in?

is trill available worldwide? most people tend to use trill as it is one of the highest quality mixes and doesnt have any foreign bits in it. :D

Colourful stuff in wild normally = poisenous so birds will be less likely to touch it.

I feed budgie 50/50 and some budgie tonic during the moult.

During breeding season I use Budgie Breeder made by Haiths.

I figure, the seeds dont come in the wild that way, so why buy it!

Does anybody feed their budgies tonic seed and is it good for them.

Some seeds like the premium stuff we feed has "coloured bits" it's actually fruit and vegetable pieces they've put into the seed. It depends on the brand and the quality.
