What do people use to mark the order which the eggs are laid? Is a normal HB pencil safe to use on the eggs?

when i mark the duck eggs i just use a pencil ! to be exact a 6B pencil.

i guess it is okay... no dead ducks... :glare: dont know if same applies for budgies.

a water based pen is what i've hear as the safe thing to use. I'll be off looking for one of them later I want to mark my next clutch ;D (when ever that will be)

What's a water based pen? Are they special or just the kind of pen you'd find lying around the house? :D

You could use a non-toxic kids' marker?
