I made the birdie bread today & they're nibbling at it now. Yay! Their little beaks are moving & no sounds of hulling seeds...like a budgie silent movie. :)

I hope they continue to enjoy it & don't make a liar out of me.

show us some pictures :)

how do you make it ??? i would love to know... maybe mine will eat it !

or even the tiel might...

GREAT thanks !!!

I'll take some pics sometime this week...my oldest daughter starts pre-school tomorrow so it's crazy here right now.

Waiting for the pics! What a great day for your daughter, and a sad day for you - school!

Yeah..I misted up preparing her back pack today. Pitiful! Oh, well...I have one more kid to go.

I'll try to get some pics of the birds chowing on the bread tomorrow.

ohhh rubies, how special. Take the tissues, your gonna need them :ausb:

I did remarkably well! I had to maintain a stiff upper lip for my 2-year-old who was furious they she didn't get to stay at school too.

For those of you who haven't had success with Beak Appetit, I'm going to try throwing it in the food cups with birdie bread. Mixing a batch right now! We'll see how it goes...

And, BUUZBEE, if you make birdie bread only leave it in the food cups for a few hours as I've found it gets stale fairly quickly. I leave it in the cage for about half the day, then give them seed or avi-cakes, or whatever for the second half.

Gotcha, thanks :D

PS, that one ingredient that I have to get at the health food store, Is that a must have for the recipe, or just added nutrients for the birds?

I don't usually have spirulina hanging around my kitchen :D so I omitted it. I tossed in some wheatgrass clippings (?!) and the birds acted all excited when they extracted a bit of "toasted wheatgrass." As for the veggies, I just tossed in a handful of frozen diced veggies, didn't bother shredding them myself. They seem to like peas best. UNLIKE my kids. *sigh* And then after it cooled I broke in into chunks, put them in ziploc bags & threw them in the freezer.

The beak appetit is cooling, so I'll give that a try with the birdie bread tomorrow.

Have fun cooking!

Hey, BUUZBEE, I mixed birdie bread & the beak appetit this morning. We'll see if that makes them more apt to eat the B. Appetit. :D
