Posted August 23, 200519 yr My stepmom has been yacking in my ear all day about me "having too many toys in the bird cage", even though there are only 6 actual toys in there. There is: A perch Spinner thing A little thing with a bell Some rings with a bell One of those little colorful rope things A small regular bell I just added a mirror She says THAT is the reason the bird is chewing her foot... with no actual evidence to back this up. She says the bird is JUST TERRIFIED of something in the cage, although she doesn't know ANYTHING about the way a bird acts when it's afraid of something, and I do. The bird has not shown ANY signs of fear toward anything in the cage. So, can somebody tell me how many toys is too many in a small cage, housing only one bird? You guys are the experts. Thanks... >X.x;<
August 23, 200519 yr It really depends on how big the cage is and how big the toys are. If they're crowding the cage then it would be best to remove some. If not, they're probably fine. What are the dimensions of the cage?
August 23, 200519 yr Not sure... I'm guessing 24 inches long, 48 wide, and 48 high. The toys are not that big... and they're not all hanging out in the open... they're mostly against the cage walls, and not all in one space. They're not blocking access to anything, or views of the outside... I'll see if I can get a picture with my crappy webcam...
August 23, 200519 yr Hmmmm it won't let me edit my last post for some reason... 1 - The rings with bell 2 - The chewy thing with bell 3 - Perch Spinner (out of view) 4 - The colorful rope thing (more toward back) 5 - Mirror (I'm getting a better one tomorrow, no worries) A slightly better, yet still crappy picture: I couldn't get the whole cage in the pics because this thing's attached to a cord lmfao... Sorry for the horrible quality...
August 23, 200519 yr I think 3 will be sufficient? Just rotate the toys so 3 now and then the other 3 next week? Have you been to a vet yet?
August 23, 200519 yr Of course I haven't. Nobody will take me or let me use the car, and they care sooooo much about this apparently, I'm wondering why they won't let me see a vet, yet they're freaking out about toys.
August 23, 200519 yr I agree, three should be enough as long as you rotate them every week so your budgie doesn't get bored.

August 23, 200519 yr Hmmm... I'll take out the rope toy... the rest of the toys are like... barely there. EDIT: There is no taxi that I know of. Unless there is a new one while I've been living here in the past 5 months... >-.-< I'll run a search... I'm not sure if I can afford a taxi if it's as much as I think it's going to be, and driving that far, and having the guy wait, and then driving back... Edited August 23, 200519 yr by Cheetah
August 23, 200519 yr Errrr it's not letting me edit again... I can't find taxi rates. I need those to be able to determine if I can afford a taxi or not... >X.x;<
August 23, 200519 yr Give them a call, tell them where you are and where you need to go and I'm sure they'll tell you how much or at least give you a rough idea.
August 23, 200519 yr Aren't most taxi places open around the clock? I guess it doesn't matter though since it's not like you would be going tonight anyway. Good luck, I hope it works out.
