Im seriously considering getting another budgie...(as long as my parents will allow it!) I'd get a male.

I have a quarinteen/spare cage, But is there anything else i should do or need to know about getting budgie number 2? I want to do it right this time ( when i was 7 i got a second budgie..things dodn't work out)

Well, if you have a quarantine cage ready, thats a great start! There's no guarantee that 2 budgies will get along as it seems you know, so you MAY have to be prepared to buy the new guy a nice spacious cage of his own if it dosent work out. Quite often two budgies that dont get on inside a cage will get on perfectly well outside of a cage. Once quarantine is over, Id do the introductions slowly, letting the little new guy stay in his quarantine cage in the same room as your current budgie. Let the current budgie have chance to fly over to the newbies cage and investigate the new bird for a day or two, and also, let the new guy take a look at the original bird in his cage. For the first week, until they are quite used to each others prescence, Id let them reside in seperate cages though. Once both are allowed to fly together in the room, let them have the option of ether returning to their own cages, or returning together to one cage. I have found that they soon seem to prefer being together than seperated, but its neccessary to give them the choice. Hope it all works out well if you do get another budgie!

I agree with Chirpy!! Don't force them onto each other, do it slowly.
