August 21, 200520 yr Was it really long when you decide to cut the nails? I have never cut my budgies nails, just offered her perchs from apple trees that I have collected and washed properly and she somehow manage to keep her nails short. Try putting some cornstarch as it helps to stop bleeding but if your budgie doesn't seem well, bring your budgie to the vet. Sorry if I sound impolite but I am worried of your budgie!
August 21, 200520 yr i know im worried to but i cant get it to any vets today i dunno what to do shes acting fine eating and chirping and everything......
August 21, 200520 yr I'm just wondering if you could have accidentally caught a nerve maybe? It sounds as if the circulation is being affected in that toe but I don't know how? Do keep a close eye on it and if the colour doesn't start to look normal soon then a vet as soon as possible I think. Julie
August 21, 200520 yr Its a good thing your budgie is eating and chirping now. I guess losing some blood makes the colour pale. As they are so small, losing some blood is a big deal to them. Is she walking or perching well?
August 21, 200520 yr thank you for your help..... i took her outside in the garden still in her cage though.... she was acting normall and singing and kinda moving around alot like hoppin on the perches so she seems to be okay but her foot is still kinda pale but i guess it could be from losing the blood...but should it have gone back to normall if she was bleeding in the morning please help any other advice?
August 21, 200520 yr Did you see my post re the nerve? You'll have to see what others have to say when they come on line. Julie
August 21, 200520 yr thanks julie and i also want to say thank you again as a long tym ago i had a problem with another budgie and you helped me alot so thanks.
August 21, 200520 yr Keep her calm and in a quiet, warm room. Schedule a vet appointment for in the morning. She'll probably be just fine but losing blood is a big deal to such a small animal. Good luck!
August 21, 200520 yr as theres not any vets round here do you know what else i can do please i love her so much and i only had her for just over 2 years please i dont wanna loose her
August 21, 200520 yr Where are you located? There has to be a vet at least remotely close to you. Maybe we can find a number for you to call.
August 21, 200520 yr I'm not sure what area that is in (I'm in the U.S.) but this link might help a bit: http://www.theparrotsocietyuk.org/avian-vets.shtml Chances are you'll have to do a bit of traveling to get to the nearest avian vet, most people do. Do you have access to a phone book that might list vets in your area?
August 21, 200520 yr We understand how you feel but that is not much that we could do now. Do try to get her to a vet. Good luck and keep us updated.
August 22, 200520 yr http://www.any-uk-vet.co.uk/greenwood%2Dsouth%2Druislip/ This is a link to the address, phone numbers and mapped out location of a vet near Yeading. Its not actually an Avian vet, but its a start. I hope your little bird is going to be okay, but Id deffinately get her checked out. Infevtion is always a possibility.
August 22, 200520 yr she seems to be okay now her foot is returning to normall colour and yes she has perches where her nail contacts the perch i used to get sand paper covers but they didnt do much use but i now have the cement perches ....
