Posted August 10, 200520 yr In the next two weeks Merly will be getting a new cage. We had our last budgie, who ended up getting sick in this one, and it has been boiled and disinfected so many times, but we're not going to take the risk anymore. It's just too suss. Should her new cage be wide or high??? This is a picture of the current one, she doesn't really go right up the top much... Edited August 10, 200520 yr by TeGz
August 10, 200520 yr Got any good examples? I really have no idea what to be looking for, and I figure if we're getting a new one I'd better do it properly! Well within budget.. probably couldn't be anymore than $120 or so.
August 10, 200520 yr okay awesome I shall go and price some cages tomorrow. Can't wait for Mum's bf to go to China :(Laughing out loud):
August 15, 200520 yr Definitely wide-what a shame you are where you are -I've got a cage for sale at the moment! Julie
August 15, 200520 yr Definitly wide, that way your budgies can fly back and forth, not just climbing. I got a nice one for mine for about US$40. If my brother shows me how to work the camera, I will get pics!
August 15, 200520 yr If you're going to get one on ebay, I would suggest buying a brand new one or disinfect it thoroughly. You don't know what the bird before died of, and if it could infect your budgie.
August 15, 200520 yr I just got a new one on e-Bay (should arrive tomorrow. yay!) for $45 US including shipping, and it came with a stand. It's 18 inches wide, which in my opinion is about the minimum. Unfortunately, right now, I can only have the minimum size that I'm comfortable with. It'll be LOADS better than the stinky round cage they're in now, however. In the round one it's impossible to keep them from pooping in the food dishes, no room for toys, etc. Okay, back to topic! Yes, there are good deals on e-Bay on new cages. I just typed in cage with stand & a bunch of stuff popped up. Good luck!
