this may sound like a silly question but i have looked all over for the answer and cant find it.............once the eggs hatch, (first is due to hatch on wednesday next week) do i remove the cracked egg, or does the female do something with it for nutrition? i know to clean the chicks feet etc, but it just struck me about the empty shells. Thanks for help in advance

Skittles always ate them. I'd leave them in.

hens usually eat them if theres any left i usually remove it when i clean the nest box out

Both Buzz and Razzo eat the egg shells. Otherwise they just get shoved into a corner and you can clean it out once the babies develop a bit more. Next Wednesday! Gee, time seems to be flying past!

Thanks everyone for your replies, it was just one of my pre natal panics (Laughing out loud), i thought well other animals eg cats dogs etc eat the sacs once their young have been born i wonder if birds are the same with the shells, thanks again, what would i do without you all
