August 4, 200519 yr well i have seperated bliss because she is being sold and baby is realy yong so i have a large cage with 3 budgies 1 male 2 female! and i have 2 nestboxs
August 4, 200519 yr ive heard you should have 2 males for every 1 female is this correct ? you should get another male or seperate out 1 of the 2 females who gets along least with the male.
August 4, 200519 yr ive heard you should have 2 males for every 1 female is this correct ? no this is wrong you should have equal numbers if colany breeding but it is best to pair up in a cage
August 5, 200519 yr budgies need to be in pairs of equal number of male and female, If you are colany breeding, it's good to have two next boxes to every hen, gives her a choice, they can be fussy, very fussy. They will fight over nest boxes if there is not enough to choose from or if two hens are competing for the same one. I would get another male, let them all bond for some time, before putting nest boxes in. The bonding is important for the budgies and makes them more successful breeders.
August 6, 200519 yr I agree with hath and Mr C, Just be careful that your hens don't get to nasty, if they do you will have to separate them so they don't kill.
