I have 2 nests with 3 chicks each about 3 / 4 weeks old never cleaned the boxes as previously when i washed them the mother always killed the chicks and noow afraid to do so what shall i do? ...........

Why do you want to clean the nest? Is it full of droppings? Do you really need to wash it, or could you just remove the droppings?

If the parents have a history of abandoning the chicks when you interfer then don't do it. If it's really necessary then you should only empty out the poop, not wash or scrub the box. :grbud:

Do your babies look well? Are they developing well? eg... beaks, feet if so leave them a lone . It's not worth it if she may kill.

  • 2 weeks later...

i did not clean the nests and everything went okay all i had to do is clean the baby feets from balls of dropings taht formed with thier toes
