The babies are now out of the nest the last one out today, but anytime the babies fly near mom she goes for them, dad is spending his time keeping the babies away from mom.

Should I remove them now? I know one of the babies can feed itself but the other one I dont think so. Im prepared to handfeed

have you got something for the chicks to hide under the longer you can keep the chicks with the parents the better but if she is going to hurt or kill them remove them and the father and keep them together for a couple of weeks

are they in an aviary?

Just when I need advise my phone line goes down and I cant access the net! :grbud:

I ended up removing the babies cause dad wasnt happy with them either, I had fed last night and also this morning but not sure how often they need feeding. They are now 7 weeks old, ive seen them picking at the seed but not sure how much they are eating.

Any advise would be welcome

At 7 weeks they should be feeding themselves. Can you see them crack the seed and leave the husk behind?

Feel the crop and if you should feel a ball there, they have eaten.

Do keep a close eye on them, also the older chick might feed the younger one if it is not feeding well.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

i agree at sevan weeks they should be fine

I agree with Hath. At seven weeks they should be okay

how are the babies going barnsey?? :)

the first two days they wouldnt eat :) and they didnt like me to feed them. But I ended up putting them in a cage next to my house cockatiel and they seemed to follow what he was doing so now they are happy, feeding themselves and making a mess with their seed.

I was worried about mum for a couple of days she sat there on the perch her wings dropped a bit but today shes flying around and eating non stop.

I tell you that between the budgies and the peachfaces Im going grey fast!
