Posted July 30, 200520 yr i dont if anyone remembers me but i had a couple of posts in the breeders section a few months back. the trouble began when all but one of my chicks were dying in the boxes, then a mail adult died. finally i sent a dead chick to utrecht university and they confirmed parot disease. the next day i got a visit from the official dutch goverment vet who tested all the birds ''except the chicks still in the nest box''. a few days later he confirmed that most of them had it ''and possibly me too''. i was then told they were to be given medicine in there water for the next six weeks and i was the only one to go near them with gloves and mask on. i am 90% sure the original carrier was from an adult bird i bought from a pet shop'' the one who died. so beware when there is a bird in a seperate cage from the rest in a pet shop. anyway the birds are all fine now, me not yet. if you see a bird acting difernt than normal act quickly and dont leave it to long like me.
