Stimpy has been mounting Sky lately, and I'm not shure if their related.

My mom says to let nature take it's course. I've told her about inbreeding, and I'm not shure what to do.

Help wanted

THANKS!

:D Sky + ^_^ Stimpy = :yellowhead: Deformed babies or bird death ?!?!?!

OMG not another......

just don't let the eggs hatch should they lay any.

Take eterris advice shake / boil or freeze the eggs.

And don't put a nest box in.

It as simple as that.

Thanks for Eterris & your advice!

Keep you posted on Stimpy & Sky. Hopefully I'll convince my mom about inbreeding & getting another girl budgie( if Stimpy is in the mood... ).

If they're your budgies it's as simple as:

"No, mom. I'm not going to inbreed budgies."

Then, if you're anything like me you'd throw a fit and guilt her by telling the HORRIBLE things budgies have to go through because of inbreeding.

And why get another girl budgie if these two are bonded and perfectly happy? What if the two females fight? Why ruin a good thing.

Sure, let nature take it's course. But like Budgeover said, don't add a nest box. Rearrange their perches and toys often. Give them a couple less hours of daylight. (Not saying you have to cover them up constantly, just close the blinds or curtains a little earlier.)

There are lots of ways to keep babies from happening.

Why do you want to breed?

There's a link on this site, fairly recent, about feather duster budgies. You need to print it out and get your Mum to read it. After reading an article like that, it really puts you off breeding at all. It is a worst case scenario, but it certainly gets the message across about how many problems poor breeding can cause.

I checked on the link and put it in my mom's "folder" on the computor.

Hopefully she'll read it!

The reason why I want another female is so if Stimpy wants to breed, he can breed with her.

Well, of course Stimpy will want to breed. (Most likely at least.) My four year old nephew would love to have candy for breakfast but you've gotta take responsibility for animals/people who can't make informed decisions as we can. My dog would've had puppies if I hadn't had her spayed, that's just what animals do. If it were up to me, certain people wouldn't even be allowed to have babies (namely ones like my sister) but that's a whole different story that I won't bother to go into.

Point is, as bad as this sounds, when it comes to certain things it's not about what the budgie wants. It's about what's best for every person and animal involved. In the wild, nature takes its course but nature also takes a lot of lives. Some animals breed easily and in large numbers because it's so common for them to be killed in the wild. They have to breed profusely just to keep the species alive. :D

In your home, it's much different. Budgies can live much longer because we're here to try and protect them from accidents and illnesses. It doesn't always work, things always happen but we try our best. In your home it becomes your responsibility to keep your pets alive and keep control of their breeding habits. And then, with breeding comes a slew of responsibilities to the species because you've removed "nature" and inserted yourself.

So, if Stimpy wants to breed but you're not really prepared for all the responsibility, he'll just have to get over it. :)

To add to Eterri's advice, 2 females and a male in the same cage might cause fights between the females. Do take that into consideration.

I was so dumb that i forgot to add in the first post that Stimpy has TRYING to mount sky!

How stupid of me. But hey, nobody's perfect!

(exept Lord Blinky :P )
