was I crazy?

okay,

I have been looking to get Dolly a bigger cage. I have been waiting for something used to pop up in our bargain finder. Today there was a good add for a cage that I thought was much bigger. I went out and bought the cage for $25.

Now Im wondering if its better?

This is the old cage:

19" wide, 11.12" Deep, and 19" Tall with Inside feeders

This is the New/used cage:

17.5" wide, 15.18" deep, and 19" tall with Outside feeders (Dolly is fine using these, and they allow more space inside.)

What do you think, was it a good idea to buy it? Or was the old one better?

Also one other thing, the bottom new has color discoloration, its now light yellow. Also the paint is worn off where the door hinges on. Do you think these could pose a threat?

Here is the door chipping:

I have that exact cage! The thing I really like about it in comparison to your old one is the variety in the bars (some are verticle and some are horizontal). This allows for putting a variety of cups and such in the cage, if that is your thing. It is mine :redalbino:

As for the discolouration and chipped parts it all depends on what your birds are like. Mine right now is not that adventerous and will never go on the bottom of his cage and rarely clibs on the bars. I guess if yours is a bar nibbler or bottom dweller it could be a problem. Hopefully some others will have some more information for you.

Your birds are adorable by the way. I have an older green and yellow one and a new baby blue one. I hope they look as good together :fear

i quite like your old cage better for a coupple reason but the new cage the discolouration of the bottom being yellow maby thats how its made. and its natural for doors to chip there when their opend and closed

I wouldn't worry abou the discolouration on the bottom, that just means the cage has seen a bit of sun in it's life and it can't harm your budgie.

As to the bars well to me it looks like there is a bit of rust to it. Athough I had my freckle in a rusty cage when i first had her and nothing bad happened to her. and if it only on the part of the door you might be able to get sometime to seal it off.

As to the size they both look about the same to me. Is this your way to get another bird??? :redalbino:

Thanks Newton, thats Zoe and Kiwi when they were babies. They are about 1/2 year now.

Nerwen & Broken Dreams... Thanks for your advice. I think that I am going to get rid of the new cage because someone told me that the exposed metal could be toxic. Also its not all that much bigger.

As far as my original cage, do you think its too small for 1 budgie. (I would love to get dolly a new buddie, but parents said no) Me and my sister do, but my parents hassle me about spending money on them, and that he does not need a bigger cage.

I think I am going to get a bigger cage from the petstore when they go on holidays.

I have that exact cage at the bottom EXACT I like it it fits 2 budgies very nicely

okay, that cage is going now.

I went to the petstore today with my mom to look at the Senegal I wanted. And she absolutly not. :)

But then she walked to the budgies, and she was playing with them. So I joined her. My sister and I have been trying to convince her to let Dolly have a buddie for so long! And the awner has always been no.

Well apparently she decided to change her mind... so we brought home a beautifull blue girl for Dolly. She was so tame in the store, letting us pick her up and even kiss her!!

She is in quarantine right now, and I cant wait to introduce her to Dolly. She is a very sweet bird, not very mean towards the others.. . And Dolly loves absolutly everyone!!

She is a little frightened at the moment, so I will take pictures later.

o yeah, the cage... we got a brand new cage!!! Dolly is in it right now and birdie (temporary nickname because Im not aloud to name her, because she is my sisters bird technically, and she wont be holme for 3 more weeks. Its a suprise for her) is in Dollys old cage.

Here is Dolly in the new cage:
